"For centuries, Native American women's art had been misappropriated, misinterpreted and, generally missing in action. A blockbuster, once in a generation exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art promises to rewrite that history". Mpls. St. Paul Magazine

"Women have always been central to Native art, though their contributions have largely gone unrecognized. This exhibition challenges prevailing assumptions in Native art scholarship, which for the most part has considered women artists to be anonymous. By contrast, 'Hearts of our People' delves into how the works on view are tied to the intricate personal and cultural histories of each individual artist." Ahlberg Yohe, co-curator
http://www.arboretum.umn.edu

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum features 1,137 acres of natural areas, public gardens and thousands of plant labels designed to inspire ideas for visitors' own backyards.  With specialty gardens, demonstration areas, and more than 5,000 plant species and varieties, the Arboretum has become one of the premier horticultural field laboratories and public display areas in the country. In 2012, the Arboretum was granted full status into the Center for Plant Conservation as a public or private garden representing the Upper Midwest.
