The Lakes Area Music Festival kicks off its summer of live music with an exclusive complimentary event at The Gull Sailing School. As the sun sets over Gull Lake, enjoy serenades from the American songbook and other popular standards performed by LAMF artistic directors John Ward, baritone, and Scott Lykins, piano.

We hope you will come out to enjoy this wonderful evening of music on the lawn, and that you will support the Lakes Area Music Festival!

Lakes Area Music Festival’s Urgent Request for Musician Hosts!

This summer the Lakes Area Music Festival (LAMF) celebrates its 13th season and the grand opening season in the Gichi-ziibi Center in Brainerd, July 30 through August 22. The festival will feature 15 free performances - from chamber music to symphonic orchestra and opera - as well as community outreach and education activities. LAMF has engaged over 150 internationally renowned artists from the top ensembles in the nation to come to the Brainerd Lakes Area to perform. Each of them stay in host settings around the area and become embedded in our community. 

One of our most urgent needs is to secure a few more hosts to accommodate our visiting musicians. Housing a musician consists of providing a bed and light breakfast to your guest, and gives you the opportunity to get to know some of these world renowned artists while building lasting relationships. From a few days to a few weeks our volunteer housing team will work with you and answer any questions you may have! Can’t host? There are multiple volunteer opportunities such as volunteering at concerts, greeting or ushering; helping to prepare or serve musician lunches between rehearsals; or lending a spare car to a responsible artist to use during their time in the Lakes Area.
