Sailing Skills is the perfect class for anyone who wants to learn how to sail, or anyone who wants to have fun expanding their sailing knowledge. Our instructors teach sailing skills in a fun environment, focusing on basics such as points of sail, tacking, gybing, capsize recovery, rigging, and terminology. Sailors who are interested in racing classes should plan on taking Sailing Skills for several sessions until requisite skills are developed.

Intro to Sailing - Cancelled
Intro to Sail is a class that will help young prospective sailors get comfortable with what sailing feels like. Instructors will closely guide them in fun activities designed to promote confidence in being on a sailboat. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch from the Yacht Club deck.

Opti Racing - Cancelled
The Opti Racing class will take the basics learned in Sailing Skills and take them to the next level. Sailors can also expect to learn racing basics including starting, courses, and basic rules.

420 Racing - cancelled
420 racing is designed to be an extension of the High School Racing Team. The class is open to current high school racers, and sailors from Opti Racing or Sailing Skills who want to do sailboat racing as a competitive sport. The goal of the class is to prepare sailors to compete at events across Minnesota. There will be several opportunities to compete throughout the summer. The focus will be on learning quickly and at a high level, and sailors are encouraged to take multiple sessions throughout the summer.

Sailing AdventureS - cancelled
In Sailing Adventures, students will have the opportunity to expand on their in boat skills on the water, and learn more about how sailboat work. We will have fun adventuring to the far corners of Gull Lake, maybe even beyond. For sailors not interested in racing, this is a great class to take again and again since each adventure is sure to be different!

Base cost is $40 for one hour for one person. Each additional hour is $10.
Each additional person is $15 for one hour. Each additional hour is $10.
For example 2 students for 2 hours would cost $75 total.
First person (40 + 10) + second person (15+10) = $75

What each Sailor Will Need
The following items are required for the studentsʼ safety and enjoyment.
Every child should be able to tread water for at least 10 minutes with a life jacket and swim in a lake comfortably.
* Buff or other facial protection covering nose and mouth
• Coast Guard approved, well-fitting, lifejacket
• Non-marring, waterproof footwear
* Water bottle
These items are suggested:
• Sunscreen
• Hat
• Appropriate sailing clothing, including an extra t-shirt and a wind breaker.
• Sweatpants, and/or sweatshirts (ON LAND USE ONLY) -- no jeans
