WEEKEND | 2013 SAILING LESSON

NEW THIS YEAR!!!
Learn to sail at the Gull Lake Sailing School. We are offering weekend lessons for 6 year old children... all the way to adult. Come build a lifelong skill and enjoy learning to sail. Our enthusiastic instructors will teach students how to sail a boat and have fun on the water.

2013 Sailing Lessons for Brainerd Lakes-Area Kids
No Sailboat?  No Problem!  

Learn to sail at the Gull Lake Sailing School. Our sailing school has been teaching kids the lifelong skill and joy of sailing for decades.  Get them on the water in sunshine and fresh air.  Our enthusiastic instructors will teach kids (entering grades 3-6 in fall 2013) how to sail a boat all by themselves, along with boating and water safety.  Plus they’ll have fun playing games, learning to race and just being on the water.

Adult Private Lesson for 1-2 people
We can work with your schedule to arrange your personal sailing class of 4 sessions (2 hours each) for $300, or $75 per lesson (2 hours each) timing and schedule would need to be pre arranged with our Head Sailing Instructor directly. SAILING SCHOOL SUMMER SCHEDULE AND CLASS OVERVIEW

PROGRAM - Our mission is to give our students the basic skills needed for a lifelong enjoyment of the sport of sailing, within a fun-filled and low pressure environment. 


PLEASE NOTE:
 Every child/adult should be able to tread water for at least 10 minutes and swim in a lake comfortably. Coast guard approved lifejackets and non-marring footwear are required.

 

An Authorization form needs to be on file at GLSS with parent's signature and initials. Please download 2013 GLSS Authorization Form and give to GLSS Staff prior to start of class(s) for each sailing student.

 

WHAT EACH SAILOR WILL NEED:
•  Coast guard approved, well fitting, lifejacket
•  Non-marring, waterproof footwear
•  Water bottle
•  Sunscreen
•  Hat
•  Appropriate sailing clothing, including an extra t-shirt and a wind breaker. (sweatpants and/or sweatshirts - ON LAND USE ONLY).
•  NO JEANS

“SKILLS” SAILING PROGRAMS - Designed as a one-week session program for sailors 8 to 16 years old. We instruct and focus on developing sailing and advanced skills. Instruction is done on optis, X-boats and 420's, depending on abilities.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE - Each camp runs for one week, Monday through Thursday and session per day is scheduled from 12:45 pm to 2:45 pm. Fridays mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm are race day for any sailors registered in the 2013 summer camps.

INTRO TO SAILING PROGRAMS

Specially designed for children just out of Kindergarten to 8 years old. Camps run for one week, beginning in mid-morning. Friday mornings are set for concluding as the racing day. Intro to Sailing focuses on the basics for kids to begin having fun while sailing. The programs run for five 1 week Camps. Instruction for Intro to Sailing is done only on optis.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE - Each camp runs weekly of the 5 weeks for the sailing program season and sailors are taught between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Friday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm will be the racing day.
