Gull Lake Sailing School Launches New Brainerd High School Sailing team
High school competitive club team a first for the Lakes Area
Gull Lake Sailing School is launching a new Brainerd High School Sailing Team for Brainerd area high school and junior high school students. The club team will host an informational meeting for interested students and their parents on March 21 at 3:20 pm at Brainerd High School
The club invites Brainerd students (girls and boys), grades 7-12, to join the club, which will meet after school three days per week, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., from April 1 to June 1 at Gull Lake Sailing School at the Gull Lake Yacht Club in East Gull Lake. Sailing will take place on racing boats called Club 420s. No prior sailing experience is required.
The Brainerd Youth Sailing Club has been made possible through a generous grant from the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation’s Charles McQuinn Memorial Fund and other donors. Cost to join the club is $75, and racing gear will be provided. Coach Josh Sullivan will lead the club this spring. Sullivan is an experienced sailing instructor and competitive racer. He will be assisted by a group of parent and GLSS board volunteers. For more information, contact GullLakeSailingTeam@gmail.com.
